April 15, 2022

Dear Friends and Supporters of DBCC,

We have been honored in these recent months to have a wonderful group of parents and supporters who worked very hard to plan next month’s fund raising event—“Cocktails for Crew”-- at the Boathouse. On behalf of the Board of Friends of Detroit Rowing, we want to thank each and every one of them for their time and talents that would certainly make for a wonderful evening. And a special big ‘thanks’ to our sponsors and financial donors for their support of our Detroit Boat Club Crew—the oldest rowing organization in North America!

However, the DNR is currently requiring a building review and inspection, and we were recently instructed to hold no events nor rowing activities within the building until this evaluation is complete. While we might anticipate a relatively quick turnaround to resume building events and activities, we are not yet assured of such. Therefore, in consultation with our fund raising organizers, I am sorry to inform you that we will need to postpone next month’s fund raising event. We will provide an update as information becomes available.

Rowing operations will continue outdoors as the weather allows. Coaches will provide updates for practices and upcoming regattas.

I hope this note otherwise finds each of you well.

Sincerely,

Henry Goitz, MD

Board President
